Welcome to Casa Rosalia – Andalusian finca in Moorish style
Casa Rosalia is an Andalusian finca, with lots of fruit trees, quietly located in the hills of the Axarquía, at a 10-mintute drive to the beach!
Our finca consists of a main building, with a cosy living room, a beautiful, fully equipped open kitchen, a bathroom with bath tub and rain shower, and three big bedrooms (one with a double bed, and two bedrooms with each 2 single beds, that can be attached to each other). Further there is a lovely swimming pool, and next to it a second bathroom with a big shower space and toilet/washbasin.
The outdoor kitchen contains a big barbecue and sink. 8 people can eat outside at the big mosaic dinner table. We have a water tower and a small, picturesque square with a very old olive tree where you can sit in the shadow. The two other buildings serve as storage space.
The whole area measures about 5.000 m2, and was planted with a lot of fruit trees: mango’s, grapes, oranges, mandarins, lemons, kumquats, olives, almonds, cherimoya’s and even an avocado tree! There is a steep path that runs from the orchard down to a small stream.
Driving from Vélez-Málaga towards Arenas and turning right onto our cemented road downhill, you have a beautiful view over the valley, with the sea in the distance. At night you can see the lights of Vélez, Caleta and , Torre del Mar. The finca is completely detached and situated in a lovely quiet spot.
The house has thick walls, so it stays cool in summer and pleasant in winter. All of the rooms are provided with ceiling ventilators; the air conditioning gives cool and warm air, and you can burn the wood burner stove when it gets a bit chilly during the evenings (usually not until November/December).
All windows are equipped with insect screens and bamboo roller blinds. We have Satellite TV with a huge amount of channels and of course well working WIFI.
The house is fit to welcome 6 people. If necessary an extra bed or cot can be set.
From the airport of Málaga the finca is only 40 minutes by car.
From the airport of Granada it is around 1,5 hours.
At only a 5-minute drive lies Vélez-Málaga, a cosy town with a huge shopping centre (El Ingenio) and a fortress. Torre del Mar is a very pleasant Spanish coastal town with high-standard restaurants, lively pubs and chiringuitas (beach bars). From Torre del Mar you can drive along the entire east coast to other very nice beach towns, like Caleta, Algarrobo, Torrox, Nerja and Almería. Or you can drive to the west towards Málaga, Torremolinos, Fuengirola and Marbella, the more touristic beaches and places. More inland you will find the natural parks Sierra Tejada, Sierra Almijara and Alhama, where you can make beautiful walks. The famous Caminito del Rey is situated at a 1,5 hour drive, where you can make the spectacular hike through the gorge El Chorro.
For culture lovers the beautiful cities of Málaga, Sevilla, Granada, Ronda and Cordoba are within reach. Also the typical white villages of Moorish origin like Nerja, Frigiliana and Comares are close by.
